An imposing palace that became a museum with a large collection of Chinese, Japanese and Indian art.It was built for the English commissioner Sir Thomas Maitland and was used as his residence, the seat of the Ionian Senate and the Order of Saints Michael and George. It was used as a royal residence until the Second World War and after that it was occasionally used as a royal residence.
